NRW funds EU service economy and recognition of foreign qualifications with the "points of single contact"

The service economy has great importance for the economy and the labour market in the EU, also in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is therefore in the sense of the provincial borders to promote the industry. Since beginning of 2016 there within the framework of the EU services directive for a central points of single contact in North Rhine-Westphalia. It aims to dismantle bureaucratic barriers in the access to or exercise of a service activity and the recognition of foreign diplomas in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The points of single contact takes over the necessary steps as mediator, to get necessary permits, registrations and official certificates. It allows a central management from a single source with a reliable agency service, individual support and easily accessible and understandable information. In addition, the EU professional qualifications directive foresees to complete the procedure of professional recognition now also via the points of single contact.

Economy Minister Garrelt Duin: "the services sector in the EU accounts for more than 70 percent of economic activity. Nevertheless, only a relatively small part of it takes place across borders. With this central controller through our management we use the potential for North Rhine-Westphalia even more. This applies in particular for cross-border issues of professional recognition and extraction of professionals."

So far, there were 21 contacts in the districts and towns in North Rhine-Westphalia. These were replaced by the central points of single contact with headquarters at the District Government Detmold. In addition, an Internet portal offers for foreign, but also German service providers and professionals, the chance to electronic processing. Additional charges do not apply for the service.
